Lughnasadh sabbat: information and ideas for an exciting Lammas

The summer season is slowing down, and with the end of summer comes the harvest season and the beginning of Autumn. One of my favorite ends of the summer season is the fall sabbats! I love the Lughnasadh sabbat as it’s during a time of year when I feel the most invigorated and energetic.

The weather typically has started to mellow out, the days slowing down but we still have the lingering warmth as Summer comes to a close! As with the other sabbats, I love creating a menu and activities corresponding to each celebration. In addition, celebrating the sabbats pulls me closer to my family and allows me to grow in my practice.

And today, I am sharing my take on the Lammas sabbat with recipes, activities, and information!

What is Lughnasadh?

Typically celebrated on August 1st (or February 1st for those in the Southern Hemisphere), Lughnasadh or Lammas is the first harvest sabbat on the wheel of the year. Lughnasadh marks the beginning of the harvest season, signifying the hope more harvesting is to come.

Lughnasadh carries themes of harvesting, gratitude, and reflection as we celebrate the end of summer and the approach of Autumn. Lughnasadh magic focuses on protection, fertility, and abundance.
